Working Groups

  • Communications and Community Outreach

    This working group engages schools, after-school programs, employers, higher education, faith-based organizations, families, and students to foster a shared understanding of STEM and its importance, aligning with the Alabama STEM Council’s goals. It will develop communications and outreach plans while maintaining connections with other working groups to ensure cohesive ecosystem communication.

  • Creating Career Trajectories

    The purpose of the "Creating Career Trajectories" working group is to lay a foundation so that the statewide and local STEM Ecosystems align what students are learning (create pathways) with the mission critical STEM skills required for local jobs now and into the future.

  • Data Management

    The purpose of the Data Management Working Group is to ensure that the state-level and regional STEM Learning Ecosystems make data informed and driven decisions. In order to do so, this working group will create a data plan that highlights what data exists and what data needs to be collected. The plan should also include how data is stored, analyzed, updated, shared, and used.

  • Regional STEM Learning Ecosystem

    The purpose of the Regional STEM Learning Ecosystem Working Group is to identify, launch, and support Alabama Regional STEM Learning Ecosystems, based off of the initial design work of the Alabama statewide STEM Ecosystem and other STEM Learning Ecosystem exemplars.

  • Student STEM Access, Equity, and Opportunity

    The purpose of the Student STEM Access, Equity, and Opportunity working group is to focus on diversity, equity and inclusion for ALL students. This group will create a framework to guide and inform the statewide and local STEM ecosystems, ensuring that all students have access to quality STEM programs, leading to learners that are STEM literate, STEM confident and prepared to enter the workforce STEM ready.

  • Sustainability and Advancement

    The purpose of the Sustainability and Advancement Working Group is to ensure well resourced state-level and regional Alabama STEM Learning Ecosystems by developing and executing plans that highlight existing resources and budgets, key funding priorities, and actionable fundraising strategies.

  • A working group is a collaborative team that brings together educators, industry leaders, and community partners to drive action, solve challenges, and enhance STEM education and workforce development.

  • Our six working groups each play a vital role in advancing STEM education and workforce development. Communications & Community Outreach increases STEM awareness and engagement, while Career Trajectories aligns education with workforce demands. Student STEM Access & Equity ensures inclusive opportunities for all learners. Data Management focuses on creating data-driven strategies to track, analyze, and improve STEM initiatives. The Regional STEM Learning Ecosystem supports the growth of regional STEM networks across Alabama, and Sustainability & Advancement works to secure funding and resources for long-term program success.
